I purchased this to replace my very old (early 2000's) and sticky USB 2.0 hub that has been taped at both ends to keep it together! Even with the hub, you can see that all of the ports on my 16" MacBook Pro are occupied. This amazingly-small device remedied that. It's important to note that shortly after my purchase, I received an email from the seller with a link to download the software needed to drive the device and properly mirror multiple displays. I found that to be most helpful and professional. When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised at how small it was. It's short enough to sit below the bottom of my second monitor so that I can have full access to the SD card slot. I'm a photographer so I'm swapping out cards on a regular basis. I'm also impressed with the brushed metal enclosure and build heft. There's just enough weight to it to keep it from sliding around on my desk.Overall, I'm blown away at the fact that I can connect just about everything to it (including my second monitor) and everything works. Others have reported that the device gets hot, but that has not been my experience. It gets slightly warm (at worst), but that's to be expected. When I powered it on, everything mounted quickly and flawlessly - especially my 2 mirrored external hard drives. RAW preview thumbnails load almost instantly when my camera's SD card is inserted. That never happens when I use a removable card reader. With all of these connectivity improvements, the one I'm most pleased with is the fact that I'm no longer plagued by issues with devices becoming disconnected when I move or bump my laptop. I'm also happy that I no longer have to use USB-A to USB-C converter cables. Also, even though I don't plan on using it to power/charge my MacBook Pro (the cord is hidden and out of the way), I like that I have that option. Finally, my only criticism is that I wish the connecting cable (which attaches to the back of the device) was a bit longer and had a braided cloth cover to make it more flexible. The one that came with the hub is just too short and too stiff. Not a big deal though because I had an extra one on-hand and eventually swapped it out.
